March 10, 2009 - Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue 2009 cover model Bar Refaeli makes her last appearance in Nashville on the sides of Southwest's "Sports Illustrated One". This aircraft was originally scheduled to display these stickers for around two months, but due to repeated problems with the sticker(s) trying to peel off in a few spots, the process of removing them began the following day in a Boeing hangar at Paine Field Airport in Everett, Washington. Some have been saying that Southwest gave in to the critics of these stickers and removed them to quiet down the prudes among us. It is my understanding that this was not the case as all - which shouldn't surprise anyone that knows anything about the culture at Southwest. They have never been a company to easily back down to critics. Some of the more ridiculous prudes out there went so far as to claim this aircraft represented "soft core porn" - which is pathetic and sad. I hope that none of these same people ever visit a beach or public pool as women dressed the same way can be seen at both all the time. The routing for this flight was TPA-BNA-LAS-SEA, and then an empty ferry flight from SEA to PAE. Fellow Nashville Aviation Photographers Wayne, Dale, Stephen, Adam and John also made the trip out to catch this final arrival of the most beautiful aircraft we've ever seen.
